Latest Google Page Rank Update

Over the past few days, various webmasters around the world have been discussing the changing Google Page Rank of their own sites.

I hadn’t actually noticed this until the other day - when my previously PR0 (or grey bar) jumped to PR3, only a few weeks after puchasing the domain. I had only just uploaded a forum to the site, but I had received a PR3 because I gave the forum a sitewide link on my main ‘make money online’ website (which at the time was PR3, with a lot of inner PR3 pages too.

The ‘make money website’ that I mentioned above also gained an improvement - from PR3 to PR4. I was very pleased with this, as I had been wondering why my website seemed to get stuck on Page Rank 3. I think PR4 is quite respectable for my website, and hopefully it will give it some more importance in the search engines (although I’m not convinced that it will help me out at all). Plus I don’t like to sell text links on my website, because I don’t really agree with that (it’s a way of cheating the Page Rank system).

Perhaps it will help me out when I am asking to exchange links with other websites - maybe some of the bigger sites will take notice, and be willing to exchange site links :)

Note: For those of you who don’t know what Page Rank is, it is basically a system setup by Google to measure a websites general popularity, by giving it a score out of 10. 10 out of 10 basically means that your website is immensely popular, with millions of backlinks. This is what Google is. PR0 is where all websites start, and then they can build up their Page Rank (or PR) by gaining backlinks, amongst various other things.
